Light Rising
for brass and percussion
Inspired by Edvard Munch’s monolithic mural The Sun, my piece Light Rising seeks to evoke the image of the sun ascending over a Norwegian landscape, its light expanding and intensifying as it climbs. In composing this fanfare, I incorporated the concept of “rising” into the motifs, melodies, and harmonies, crafting a piece that steadily builds upward until it reaches its peak.
